All of the haters (Joe) are talking about torrents are about money. What if some of use use torrents b/c we are all about the freedom of it. I HAVE the freedom to not be bombarded by commercials, I HAVE the freedom to watch what I want, when I want, I HAVE the freedom to not pay an inflated price for a copy of what I want. How many times have you gone out and PAID for a movie, just to find out that it SUCKS! From my personal experience, more and more lately. If I really liked a movie that I downloaded, I will go out and buy it for the pretty little wrapper and Special Effects. And who the FUCK are you to judge me or any other BT client? If you hate bit torrent so much, why are you here? Do you really not have a better cause? Why don’t you redirect your effort’s to something like, Saving Molested Whales or Clogging up facebook with idiotic comments about how you know so much about the legal system (*cough*bullshit*cough*).
We are a community that hates the greed involved with the movie and music industry. This IS fighting for what we believe in, one download at a time. So if you aren’t here to support us, brother, you ARE THE minority.
POWER TO THE PIRATES — SOLDIERS OF DIGITAL FREEDOM
I can’t believe noone has yet pointed out the fact that joe, a wal-mart shelf stacker, is claiming to understand the worlds economy and the way cashflow works and even to know the cause of the current global recession.
No offense Joe…. wait, Lots of offense intended Joe but if you were such a financial genius you would not be stacking shelves for a living. Soe of the worlds best economists have tried to deduce the cause of the current economic crisis and do you wana know a secret joe? The main reason for the economic downturn is the fact that people JUST LIKE YOU lost their faith in the economy.
We are not the cause of the recession, imbeciles like you are, you shelf stacking inbred racist sonofabitch.
Every single time someone checks out a book or movie from the library is that piracy? I live in a city with the #1 rated library in the country and they seriously have everything, from books to movies to albums to graphic novels. I’ve even found rare items there I could not find online. I don’t pay to use my library, other than (I suppose) taxes. Part of their catalog is even online, which I can access just as easily as a torrent site. But the library is legal whereas bittorrent is illegal. What is the difference?
I believe what mininova, tpb, and other torrent sites are creating (intentionally or not) is a repository for all human knowledge and creations. I don’t think it’s a bad thing. Industries that are “failing” need to catch up or die off. If a void is left, say in blockbuster movies, indie filmmakers like those on Vimeo or Current will fill the gap. Simple. The old model is broken and leeching too much money off of the public. Major motion pictures might have to cut back but they will remain, as some people want to see something in 3D on 100ft screens every now and then. Musicians will still make money from concert sales and merchandise. Writers may lose some money, but text piracy has been going on since the printing press was invented.
The record industry is a dinosaur. People can make decent music in their bedrooms without high end studios, release it themselves online through iTunes or bittorrent, and get free exposure from Myspace or last.fm. So, in essence, musicians no longer need engineers, content limiting producers, promoters, or costly distribution methods. Like how the cotton gin revolutionized textiles, the internet has done for media. Get used to it or get lost.
I look forward to a world where wage slavery is a thing of the past, information is shared without limits, where advanced education is free, a world where we can build to the stars!
” I look forward to a world where wage slavery is a thing of the past ”
zerosumgame only way that will ever be a reality would be if “Money” (as in the global consumption and acceptance of an imposed and technicaly non existant resource.) was removed and replaced by a more practical means of trade, problem is, the ones with the most of it cant see past it.
anyhoo, it is the Carpet Baggers, selling the content they d’load that is the crime. to me that is a slap in the face to ALL the people involved in p2p sharing who like me do it only for their own entertainment.
we steal and share, like robin hood, on one hand we take on the other we share, i cant afford to buy films and music, i recieve basic wage rates and have worked out that i could afford one film and two cd’s a month, if you download you must share. If mininova is prosecuted for hosting filesharing then why not microsoft or google, i regularly use google to find torrents and share videos and music with my family using messenger, just by dragging and dropping onto the messenger window, why is this not illegal ? Because you are ALLOWED to share and copy your music and films, just the same as if you handed a friend a dvd or cd, there is no law against that. And why has Soulseek not been banned, because this point has been proved time and again. However, sharing game torrents and software is illegal, and this may spell the end of torrent sites. If you want you get, and that really annoys the governments, be thankfull that you all live in an age where information control is minimal, just be sure to check out China and the GREEN DAM project, as this may be the model that western governments take. Green Dam is software that has to be legally installed on every computer in china, this ensures that the government of china has TOTAL control of the internet. Keep sharing and WE all risk having such a system put into place in our own countries. I suggest using peergardian to protect yourself from prosecution and to download NOW any software or games that you NEED and back up to cd or dvd, because in the near future torrent downloading WILL become illegal. Or, your isp will ban you from using torrent sites to PROTECT itself from prosecution. British Telecom recently banned its customers from accessing Pirate Bay, So its started already……..let the code wars begin…….
my term for the increasing amount of control placed on users by their governments and isp’s, and the war between states to control the flow of information and the theft of data. google “GHOSTNET”, china’s attempt at hacking over 1,000 networks, and it will become clear to you that the first SHOTS in this new WAR have already been fired. Cloud computing and streaming may also end p2p, many more people dl legally than illegally, we are the minority, and like most minority’s we WILL be persecuted. NEW ISSUE of net fanzine MACTECHJEDI has loads more info on these topics and we publish for free, next issue out on the 5th of september……….peace
