We are pleased to announce that Mininova is testing a new technology which allows users to download and watch licensed movies and TV shows for free. These videos will be packaged by Hyper MP technology and are going to be distributed using Mininova Content Distribution for free. The unique feature of this system is that the videos can be downloaded and played anywhere in the world (no geo-targeting), and will make use of a new in-video advertising technology.
The first beta test release for this technology trial is an amateur feature length comedy titled “Battle Therapy”. The film, produced by Australian film school students, is a wacky comedy about an unorthodox psychologist and his obsessive compulsive patients.
Make sure to check our this movie by downloading the following torrent: http://www.mininova.org/tor/2020297. The movie is packaged in a Windows executable and is free of viruses and DRM, so don’t let that deter you from downloading it. After viewing the movie, please feel free to send feedback on your experience with this technology to feedback@hypermp.com.
Please note that this first release is a trial only and it is not representative of the quality of feature length content that will follow upon the official release of the service. In order to assist in polishing the technology, all the feedback you are willing to provide will be greatly appreciated.

Do agree with webhobo; just don’t download it. The day it becomes the exclusive format is the day i stop using this site, but up until then its still a damn sight more friendly than some of the other torrent hosters.

just wanted to say i think it is a good idea, but i still dont like it..
i will not be using it. here are a few reasons why:
1) i dont like advertisements while watching tv shows or movies.
2) you would only be sharing low-budget movies or shows.
3) its much easier to stream directly from a server in divx or flash.
4) most things on the tv would be more appealing to watch.
5) i do not get any benefits out of it, except knowing it is legal.
imho, its just better to stick with normal xvid or hd rips.

there are so many ways to cover windows/mac/linux cross-platform videos technology, i know there is nobody will disagree on that big example VLC Player am i right? but i think its bad idea here is much much better idea that they provide binary file (per movie) after when end user runs its start showing Movie LIVE i.e. live streaming and everyone will be happy with this also possible to see ads (with continue button) every 25mints..

What happens, if you rename an .exe to an .avi? Do you trust endings at all?
Are you crazy! A good portion of the EXE’s on Mininova now are already infected! Even the zip files have EXE’s in them that are infected. This is only going to make it worse!
Just check out the software download section and check the comments about trojans! Trust me I know from experience!
So the VMware runs in it’s own sandbox. Thats an excellent start (I’ve used VM to get linux OS running under Windows - and it works quite well) but who will be able to tell whether an EXE is infected? NO-ONE!!! (We’re just supposed to trust someone’s comment? Come us - gimme a break!)

This is an attempt to legitimize the p2p protocol. Some of you may not have known this, but… Some file sharing is illegal.
I mean Highly Illegal.
really friggin illegal.
This is the fuel for the relentless pursuit of the destruction of peer to peer file sharing. They want to wipe it out before we realize it’s full potential as a society.
Perhaps calling the admins of this site stupid isn’t terribly helpful.
Perhaps the members of this community and the brave pioneers of tomorrow’s p2p should offer suggestions.
