It’s been a while since the last technical update. So today, we added some new functionality for Mininova and Snotr to make your life easier 
Updates for Mininova:
- Number of comments in the tables. If a torrent has one or more comments, the
icon and the number of comments is shown. Clicking on the number or icon will take you to the comment page of the torrent. - Subcategory information in the tables. When you move the mouse cursor over a torrent, its subcategory shows up next to its name.
Updates for Snotr:
- The video cloud. An interesting way to browse the videos.
- The video wall. A quick way to find a specific video if you remember its thumbnail image.
- Quick submit link. Explained on the submit page. This link makes it easier to submit videos to Snotr.
- Animated thumbnails. When you move the mouse cursor over a thumbnail, an animated version of the thumbnail is shown.
- Better video encoding method. Already in use since a few weeks, and results in smaller file sizes.
- Some bug fixes.

Two more small improvements for Mininova:
- Comments posted by the uploader of the torrent are shown in green. Example here.
- The “number of comments” icon (see above) is now always at the right side of the column, so it’s easier to compare torrents in a table.

Just an idea, but is it possible to implement a rating out of 5 for each torrent?. This way when people comment they can add their rating, everyone can then decide whether to download or not?

@Kiran: We are thinking of different kinds of solutions for that but I can’t say much about it at the moment.
Hmm, would there be any way to move where the comment icon is? It seams like… an… “Awkward” place. Almost random. And with the combination of the other icons (such as IMDB numbers and (P)’s), as well as the offset for digit placement (for ‘1′ or ‘10′, the later being pushed out farther) it looks kind of odd. Maybe if comments had there own column, it would look right.
Just an opinion though.
Add captcha to prevent mediadefender from auto posting fake torrens. Meganove already did this why can’t you?

I also agree with the 5-star system, that would help eliminate the fake torrents from the real ones, let the voices be heard
I’ve been here for years and really like the new tweaks. Is there a way to add something to filter out “Private” torrents, sometimes it looks cluttered to have 1500 torrents and only 200 of them are accessible. Keep up the awesome work.
Bryan, check the options, there is a way to filter out torrents with private trackers.
EDIT: It’s in MY OPTIONS section.

Nice work on the torrents comments, very useful. Whislt we are in a “shifting ideas around” type arena, also a link to the IMDb page of a film would also be helpful as at the moment I am cutting and pasting the links in the torrents that are helpful enough to post the link. Pretty much similar I guess to VCD… Thanks for your ongoing work fellas - IT IS APPRECIATED! :o)

Have been trying for several weeks to make a request–I am registered, and I log in and still am blocked from making any requests. How do you go about this: I am looking for someone who can put up the last two episodes of Canadian Idol 2007–Final two sing, and the final two hour episode, I believe numbers 30 & 31. I don’t know if this is the proper place to do this, but I am getting frustrated!!! (To say the very least)

The best and cleanest website just got better !
love the new updates i my self go to the comments befor i download any thing to see what others have experinced, the rateing system would take it one step futher though how the rateings sould be done is harder to decide. for movies it would be nice to break the ratings down auido and video rateings. for software it would be nice to rate them both on content and crack - serial number. thought that might be too much to add to the index page so maybe one overall rateing would be better, just a sugestion.

i love this site, and there is only very little room for improvement. The page loads are very slow even thou i have a very fast internet connection (20meg). It takes ages on the adverts, not actually the site or torrent tables. Also, my comments always seem to be deleted. It is very random/?’?
Most excellent and +3 for implementing a user suggestion.
Another suggestion I made was limiting the “P”rivate site uploads. It’s a pain to scroll through them. The reply to my initial post about this was to use the filter settings to remove them. Thats all good, but there are many times when I am not on a secure system and cannot or will not log in to do this. Yea, maybe then it’s just my tough luck but I think the users deserve better. I mean, we are the ones who contribute and make the site. Besides, these private site spammers are only doing it as free advertising. They aren’t contributing anything at all to what makes Mininova so great. A private site spam scroll does ZERO for Mininova and actually takes up precious server space.
It would be nice if you had some kind of button or tab to change the source of the embedded window to have the autoplay option. Would make it a lot easier.

I suggest the following:-
1. After Leechers column, include a column ratio call it “S/L” and make it sortable under this column, so it will be easier for users to select the best available.
2. For the rating I suggest 3 point rating system ( Good, Neutral, Bad).
3. as we see there are not much comments (less than 5 or none mostly,), consider including merging torrent link, description, and comments in one page. So the end user no need to click the tab and retrieve the info.

BTW, the comments to the torrents should be longer! Now I often get information that my comment is too long, so I have to cut it to few shorter ones, and post as few comments
I love this site to death, but I would like a less stricter word filter. Also, your comment should stay in the box if you’ve used a filtered word (theres no fun in having a detailed comment disappearing with no way to retrieve and edit it). And why does mininova display a “page cannot be found” on every other page, which I can fix by refreshing 2 or 3 times? Does the site have asthma?

Mininova was great, but now it is unusablly slow. Until mininova has more server power their dead to me.
