Hi everyone!
Just a few days left and it’s Christmas, the time of the year you spend with family, friends and… browsing the new & improved Mininova 
As you may have noticed, the site has undergone huge changes. We moved the site to a new hoster and datacenter, which will drastically improve performance. The search backend of the site has also been rewritten, resulting in a faster (and hopefully better) search experience.
After months of development and testing, we’re also introducing a new layout for Mininova. Extra functionality has been added and existing features are easier to use now. For example the “Jump to category” drop down box will help you quickly go to your favorite section, but also quite a few other cool but subtle features have been added.
This doesn’t mean the site is perfect now. In fact, we’re quite sure there are still some bugs & errors left, which we didn’t spot. In case you do, please let us know, and we’ll be happy to fix them! Same counts for the layout: please let us know your ideas to improve the layout.

Come on, DON’T BLOCK JAMENDO, they have the only legal torrents that are not linux distributions…
this website little bit problem and might be improve the time to searching and time delay to transfer. So, I suggest the error will be fixing and I hope this website will be the best website for torrent search.

Thanx for the reply Matthijs. You were right about the speed issue. My internet connection has really gone slow.Some problem in the backend at the isp apparently.

Fantastic job guys! Very sleak and nice interface. I just love it!!!
Unfortunately, most of the times it either times out or gives me a rubbish display as the CSS layout goes screwy becasue of the time it takes to load a page. I would say that 75% or more it times out and probably half the rest of the time I have to hit refresh to get a display which takes forever and even when it does come up first time it usually takes a minute or more. Similalrly, clicking on a torrent downlaod link more often than not also times out just hangs.
I used to visit a few times a day to check for certain torrents but I it has become so frustrating I have found it easier to go to Isohunt as anything on here eventually appears there anyway. Sorry, it has been nice knowing you and you were probably one of the best around but what used to be a pleasure is know near torture. But then again I suppose all good things come to an end eventually. I will still pop in occasionally to see if things improve but it won’t be my first port of call any more.

Nice job ….but I think you have a problem with the search engine… it never works all I get for anything I ask is NO RESULT….. something is wrong big time…. Hope you can fix this soon……
Searching for “survivor” gets you 0 results, even though in the TV Shows section there is a Survivor section filled with Survivor episodes…

Is mininova a front for Jamendo? PLEASE block Jamendo. Since they have been clogging everything there don’t seem to be many normal torrents. Thank goodness there are still other sites that don’t have Jamendo. Do moderators read these blogs??
Good to see new features but the search function doesnt work (whatever i search for) and the new design is incredibly ugly and lets say, akin to a html 3 site. Retro in this case is most definately not cool. fugly.
yeah big problems with searching. i love mininova but everything i search for turns no results. and sometimes it works other times it doesnt. odd…

Love the new design, and the site seems faster. The only gripe is the search doesn’t work. I even searched for a torrent listed on the frontpage, and no results. Other than that, its nice!

well, although the site looks new, whenever i try to use the search, it return “NO RESULTS” always even though there r items that would normally come under the search. is there a problem with the site ?

Am I the only one that hasn’t been able to search for a couple days??? I get ‘No results’ for anything i search for. This has been happening for two or three days now. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE SEARCH FUNCTION?!
What happened here? No seeds/peers? This is overhaul of the whole site, not just some fancy layout.
When trying to download torrent I get an error
message “INVALID MENU HANDLE” What does this mean? I am
unable to downlad torrents.

I find the search does not seem to work well anymore or you have lost some torrents
Whats going on
i’m using the newest internet explorer 7 and this website loads only half the page. (refresh doesn’t solve the problem either) i don’t see any of the new torrents, but the directory links on top with the search feature. strange. this never happened to me before on the old layout. the layout looks nicer, but it doesn’t like my IE.
also the search feature does the exact thing. it doesn’t find anything. i only see the directory links on top.
this is not huge changes! just menu changed
make your site Ajax based! it would be huge change!
There is a problem with the forum. Whenever i try to post a message(i click post reply) it takes like forever for the page to load.

Instead of going back to the server to sort results, use some nifty javascript and sort the results on the client side. That will save you a lot of bandwidth.

The new layout is a subtle improvement over the old layout. The changes aren’t drastic, but they fairly large, yet the site retains its original feel. This I feel is the goal: to improve upon a good thing.
We will have to wait and see how the speed issue fares; I seem to be encountering decent responses for the most part, but have had some timeouts (this may have been due to my BitComet client simultaneously hogging bandwidth).
