Some time after we started mininova there were a few people that thought that uploading spam torrents would be a good idea to advertise their “GET A FREE XBOX 360” links (or PSP, or HDTV, or well you get the point 
).
At this time we banned 3651 people (some of which are people who received multiple bans). To see if some country has more (persistant) spammers than others, I decided to compare some statistics.
If you compare these percentages with the number of visitors:
You notice France ( ) doing a great job and Germany probably has a few nasty spammers 
(or they have more of those “free stuff” sites).
These stats actually prove nothing but hey, statistics are always fun .
The piecharts are generated using the cool php script from peters1.dk. (Gnuplot, which is used for all the graphs on mininova.org, doesn’t support piecharts)
IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU STOPPED FUCKING WITH THE DOWNLOADS WHEN THE ARE ALMOST COMPLETE,AND CUTTING PEOPLE OFF.

I was banned from uploading but not for spam. I uploaded one file which had a broken hash due to the tracker deleting it then putting it back on and it stopped on 99.9% but i uploaded a fix almost straight away and spent 2 days trying to contact ppl to get them the fix which thousands did. I contacted the admins and they told me my ip isn’t in the banned list but it has to be coz i can’t upload! My ip is 62.56.–.– the second half changes every time i disconnect and reconnect!
You tell people to contact admins and irc i have done both the first lot of pm’s that i sent to 8 admin and mods got 1 reply saying my ip isnt in the ban log. But im still banned, went onto the irc chat many got ignored many times! Now sent a new lot of pm’s out a few days ago and still got no reply! I worked my arse off to get that fix out to ppl, stayed up 2 nights because it was one of my first encodes and didn’t want to get a bad rep for upping crap but still i got banned because some or numerous ungrateful arse wipe/s reported me!

you could place an invitation system every now and then. That way when a bunch of spammers are banned they cant just register with different details and start all over again.
Oh can dead torrents be taken off the server. Its really annoying when trying to download something, waiting for sometime and then finding out the torrent’s dead.

How do you know if you are banned?.I cannot download anything a sign comes up and says Invalid menu handle.I have forever tried to get on to the Forum but it will not let me sign up and to top all that mininova will not talk to me.

2- You should be more concerned with virus attacks/spyware attacks in the files uploaded, not blaming you mr/mrs admin(s)

To all you poopoo heads that are wingeing about “torrents with viruses” either a) Stop stealing things and stop using bittorrent b) Buy a decent virus killer c) Stop using windows, the worlds biggest virus and open your ming to an opensource OS. I have been virus free for 4yrs. I’m very interested in knowing how these results are collated though. Presumably mininova have logged IP’s. If so how long do they keep them for?? Lies, damn lies and statistics…..

Only thing in this site which i can complain are the private trackers and password protected files. I don’t understand why these two groups can’t be banned. It sucks to download for example a movie and notice that U can’t unrar it without a password. i can’t stop wondering what’s going on in those uploaders heads when they upload a file and only few ppl can open it. I guess that in their pitifull minds they feel sick satisfaction when they have this great power LOL. Wow, the intelligence of the majority of these comments is simply baffling. For one typing in all caps is a big sign that you’re a younger internet user, and secondly moving straight to insults or references to genitilia is yet another sign of immaturity.
As for viruses, the obvious solution is to use a virus scanner and learn from your mistakes.
To those complaining about “we can’t be shut down because we don’t host files”, that’s actually erroroneous, the *AA’s have been attempting to shut down tracker sites wtih the reasoning of distribution of illegal content, it will happen eventually, quit the childish antics, and enjoy it while it’s here.
To the admins, keep up the wonderful work on a reliable and simplisitc torrent site.
