As most of you noticed, we had quite some problems this weekend. (Due too some bugs in “3rd party software”)
We are now busy changing to another caching library and (hopefully) everything will be fixed :).

The new caching library works great. We have also updated our version of eaccelerator and there are no errors anymore.
We have also written some new load balancing features which automatically change caching times and search result set sizes based on the load on the sql server.
We are planning to update mysql to version 5 in some days. We are looking at compiling it with the intel compiler which should enhance it’s performance.
Site was down this morning..first time i will notice it..thought you were the latest victim of the RIAA/MPAA killing machine…guess not..thank God!! Keep up the good work..

Saw a torrent today under books that said “Banned by Mininova! Grab it while you can!” and it was labeled something like Freedom Newspaper or such. Of course I wrote it off as a cheap ploy to get hits, but then later the torrent disappeared! What’s going on? It seems kinda silly for a website which aggregates so many torrents to censor content.

Jess: Because mininova was flooded with that torrent (and we are not here for promoting your religion/believes/websites) we deleted it and they kept uploading it.
After a while they started putting the “BANNED BY MININOVA” tag on there. So just some kids being annoying using proxy’s and stuff. Just ignore them ;).

MOD u were askin about dvds, use DVDFAB Express, it gives u a 30 day trail, but they are perfect. and Mininova is the best!

A bit of downtime every now and again reminds us how much we love and rely on MiniNova. Miss it, obviously, complain about it NEVER.
Bananaman, it really is scary to think of a world without Mininova. Living in a foreign country means you’re subject to missing many TV shows from you’re home country, but with Mininova (along with VTV and eztv) I can watch Lost, Prison Break, and other shows, instead of the drivel that is broadcast in Japan. (TV on the weekends is the worst here) Everytime I notice downtime here, that thought “Were they shutdown?” always comes to mind, and I start getting depressed thinking about how long it will take for all the current TV shows to be released on DVD for me to finally watch….alas, Mininova will never be shut down!! Long live Mininova! (and P2P technology)
