As you may have noticed we have just launched a new version of mininova.

The most important freature of the new update is the user system. The user system allows people to post comments on torrents. It also lets you personalize mininova with your own settings:
We have also done some other minor improvements. For example the FAQ page has been rewritten. And there are some minor speed improvements.

I hope you’re not thinking of making mininova a membership site… If you do you’ll loose half your visitors. I’d hate to have to use other torrent sites, cause I really like mininova. One of my fav’s! But I don’t sign up for anything… Don’t be lame, keep mininova the same!

That whole part about a whole lot of what people do here being illegal where they live might be part of the hesitation to sign up.
True, but note: mininova does not keep logs of its users (unless it wants to ban an uploader, in which case the ip address would be used).

the comments function is the right way to go, since a lot of files uploaded have errors or just not enough seeds
so we can comment on the torrent errors now..that`s awsome:)
The CET is fine, please do not change it!
CET doesnt make sense. GMT is the benchmark - time zones are based on GMT, so that’s what the server time should be - GMT.

Just a little suggestion that would help us foreigner. On tv show section, why don’t u add a little search tool linked to tv.com for finding about the program?
For instance, beside the dowload for the last episode of lost, a little link that brings us straight to

Email addresses may also be used in some new features I was thinking off. But you will never get unwanted mail from us, and we will never give away your email address.

i think this website is really good and i must thank you for lettin me get so many albums the only small problem is that sometime i download something it says it dont need a password and it does then i cant open the file it annoys me but other from that i think this website is really good i would recomend this to anyone

A nice Feature would be to have the option to only show certain categories. e.g. i would only like to see movies and tv shows…. A lot of registered sites have this capability, and i would love to see it here as Mininova is the one stop get it all place.

Load up a torrent and take a look at the list of peers you’re uploading to. See all those IPs? Do you trust all those people? Do you trust they aren’t downloading from you so they can prove you’re offering illegal content? Trust that they aren’t the RIAA/MPAA? No?
All I’m saying is that if you’re in the Bittorrent game, your email should be the least of your worries. Why not just open up a seperate Gmail account for this kind of thing? I’ll even hit you up with an invite if you’d like.

Oh dear. Why does no one understand anonymity on the internet? A new email address is no protection. And whilst I’m sure Mininova will never willingly give out your email address, they may not have a choice in the matter if it comes down to it. Want to be anonymous? Buy a new wifi card (pay cash and buy it from a shop without a security camera). Plug it into your computer and instantly change the MAC address. Connect to a neighbour’s system and steal their internet connection and thus, their IP address. Do not connect to any web page that you would normally. Do not use email. Do not use any messenger thing. Do not go near anyone you know. When you’ve downloaded one torrent, disconnect, change the MAC address back, remove the card, burn it, never connect to your neighbour’s internet connection again and never use that BitTorrent tracker again. And even then…

@cioxx: Comments are under a separate tab. There are multiple reasons for doing this, one of which includes reducing server load. @Fatboy: What popups? Mininova didnt have popups last time I checked. @true: No bogaa stole mininova’s layout/design afaik.
bogaa is the one stealing from us. Ok it is true that he had a comment system first but you can’t really say we stole this idea from him, for example thepiratebay.org had it way before him.
Now a small list of the things bogaa stole from us:
* CSS, the whole page layout (ok he changed the colors and some other things)
* The javascript/css for the caterogies dropdown menu
* His stats is exactly the same as our old stats page
* The search suggests
* Most of the about page
* The [I] Icon (we stole the [P] icon from suprnova, and we are not denying that)
* How the frontpage is devided into tables fo the subcategories
* The looks of the torrent information page
* The tabs for different info on the torrents (on mininova /tor, /det, /com)
* The internal files page is the same
* He uses a simplefied version of our upload page
* and much more…
